A place for self-managed boards to compare notes

Running a homeowners association is one of those jobs you learn on the fly. Most board members are unpaid volunteers — a treasurer who happens to be good with numbers, a president who simply raised their hand — and there’s no handbook for the situations that come up. The Stewardly community forum exists so you don’t have to figure it out alone. It’s a moderated space where board members and property managers from real self-managed HOAs and condo associations share what’s actually worked in their communities.

The most useful conversations tend to be the practical ones — the questions you can’t easily Google because the answer depends on a real board’s experience:

  • Collecting dues without turning neighbors into adversaries — reminders, payment plans, and when to escalate. (See our guide on collecting HOA dues online.)
  • Running meetings that end on time and produce decisions, not just discussion. (See how to run a board meeting.)
  • Keeping clean minutes that protect the board — and using our free meeting minutes generator to do it faster.
  • Building a budget and planning reserves so a special assessment isn’t a surprise. (See the HOA budget guide.)
  • Staying compliant with the rules in your state — our state-law guides cover the big ones.

Because the forum is moderated and tied to real Stewardly accounts, the advice comes from people actually doing the work — not anonymous noise. It’s open to customers during the beta; if you’re not on Stewardly yet, you can start a free 30-day trial and join in.
